Ferrari, the Italian supercar maker, re-entered the Indian market in November last year with new dealers. The first product that the company launched, after its re-introduction, was the California T, and it launched the Ferrari 488 GTB today i.e. February 17, 2016, at a starting price of Rs 3.88 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Ferrari 488 GTB’s India launch took place at the Ferrari’s Mathura Road dealership in New Delhi that is owned by Select Cars Pvvt. Ltd. The launch took place in the presence of Aurelien Sauvard, International Sales Director – Ferrari Middle East & Africa – and Mr Yadur Kapur, Director Select Cars Private Limited.

The 488 in the car’s moinker indicates the engine’s unitary displacement, while the GTB stands for Grand Turismo Berlinetta, a reference to its deep roots in Ferrari history.
The Ferrari 488 GTB features a 3.9-litre, V8 turbocharged engine that comes mated to a 7-gear F1 dual-clutch transmission that gets Variable Boost Management that optimally distributes torque. Though Ferrari has done a turbocharged road car in the past — 308 GTB — the 488 is the first Ferrari of the modern era to feature forced induction. This engine churns out a whopping 660bhp and 760Nm. With an electronically limited top-speed of 330kmph, the Ferrari 488 GTB can touch the 100kmph mark from standstill in mere 8.3 seconds.
