Automotive component maker Bosch on Tuesday said that it will lift the lockout at its Jaipur plant with effect from April 15, following a conciliatory meeting with the labour union. The state’s labour secretary has directed both parties to continue discussions on the long-term wage settlement, the company said in an update to the stock exchanges.

“A conciliation meeting was held on April 13, 2015, between the management and labour union supported by the labour secretary, wherein it was agreed that the union will not indulge in a ‘go-slow’ action and call off their hunger strike immediately and the company will lift the lockout with effect from first shift of April 15, 2015. The labour secretary has directed both parties to continue discussions for the long-term wage settlement,” it said.

The wage settlement negotiations at the plant for June 2013 to May 2017 had been going on more than 20 months. On April 5, Bosch declared a lockout at the Jaipur plant as the labour union and workmen had allegedly taken a ‘go-slow’ approach to production from March 19, reducing output by up to 70%.
