The 2016 Auto Expo is expected to inspect a record number of new vehicles, and Datsun redi-GO, Renault Kwid AMT and Hyundai i20 N Sport are small cars that could make their way this year.
The Auto Expo, Asia’s largest motor show, is just two months away and the list of exhibitors have already been revealed. With a total of 100 exhibitors taking part, out of which 65 are vehicle makers, the 2016 Motor Show is likely to be bigger than ever. The 2016 Auto Expo is expected to inspect a record number of new vehicles, and here’s a list of small cars that could make their way this year.
1. Datsun redi-GO production version
First showcased as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, the production-ready version of the redi-GO based hatchback will be unveiled at the 2016 edition of the biennial show. Based on the CMF-A platform, on which the Renault Kwid is also built, the Datsun redi-GO hatchback will be positioned below the GO hatchback. The redi-GO could feature an all-new 3-cylinder petrol engine that might also power other small cars from Nissan-Renault alliance.
2. Renault Kwid AMT
Renault India that launched the Kwid earlier this year, is also working on a more powerful petrol version, 1000cc, of the small car for global markets. Though there is no official word yet, the same product may also come to India. And the much-awaited AMT (automated manual transmission) might make its debut with the 1000cc version and not the 800cc. This will also help the company rival a slightly more powerful models like Maruti Alto K10 and WagonR, both of which also feature AMT gearbox.
3. Hyundai i20 N Sport
The 2016 edition of the Auto Expo might also see the debut of the South Korean carmaker’s performance brand – Hyundai N. Hyundai N tuned i20, called the i20 N Sport, was unveiled earlier this year, and the same could also make its debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Though the Hyundai i20 N Sport features the same 1.4-litre petrol engine that does duty on the regular model, it has been tuned to deliver 114bhp and 160Nm.
