Hyundai India, today, revealed its global SUV the Tucson at the ongoing Auto Expo. Set to be launched later this year, the all-new Hyundai Tucson will be positioned below the Santa Fe and above the Creta. With an expected price range of Rs 17 lakh – Rs 20 lakh, the Hyundai Santa Fe will have no direct competitor but this can attract people going for higher variants of the Mahindra XUV500.
The Hyundai Tucson was first launched in India in 2005, but was discontinued within 5 years due to very poor demand for the vehicle in the market. The second generation model never came to India, and the one unveiled today is the third-gen model that had made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015.
To be able to price it competitively in the market, the company might manufacture the new Hyundai Tucson at its plant in Chennai. Similar to the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Creta, the Tucson too is based on Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy. With features such as new trapezoidal grille with three chrome slats, sweptback projector headlamps with LED strip, prominent character lines, i20-inspired boomerang shaped tail-lamps, black plastic cladding around the body and few other, the Hyundai Tucson 2016 looks like quite sporty.
Coming to dimensions, the new Hyundai Tucson is 4475mm long, 1665mm high, 1850mm wide and has a wheelbase of 1655mm. Powering the Tucson is a 2.0-litre CRDi diesel engine that, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, develops a maximum power output of 175bhp and 402Nm. The vehicle could be offered with both a 4×2 and 4×4 upon its launch.
