Ashok Leyland rejigs top management to offer opportunities to in-house talent

Gopal Mahadevan, who was recently appointed as whole time director in addition to his current role as CFO and president of customer solutions business, will also be responsible for information technology (IT), corporate strategy and business analytics.

Dheeraj Hinduja, chairman, Ashok Leyland announced these organisational changes.

Hinduja group flagship Ashok Leyland (ALL) on Friday announced a set of organisational changes, in line with the company’s philosophy to provide growth opportunities for talent from within the company.

Gopal Mahadevan, who was recently appointed as whole time director in addition to his current role as CFO and president of customer solutions business, will also be responsible for information technology (IT), corporate strategy and business analytics.

Anuj Kathuria has been appointed as chief operating officer and he will be responsible for all of medium & heavy commercial vehicle (MHCV) business.

Nitin Seth has also been appointed as chief operating officer and he will be responsible for light commercial vehicles (LCV), defence, international operations (IO) & power solutions business (PSB). Both Kathuria and Seth were presidents of their respective businesses.

N Saravanan who was recently appointed as chief technology officer in addition to his current role will also be responsible for the electric vehicles (EV) business.

Announcing these organisational changes, Dheeraj Hinduja, chairman, Ashok Leyland, said: “At Ashok Leyland we have always believed in nurturing and rewarding internal talent. We have a robust pipeline of leaders who are ready to take on greater challenges and these appointments are a fitting recognition of their contribution and capability.”

In response to a query at the recent press conference here on the repalcement of its ex-managing director and CEO Vinod Dasari, who quit and joined Eicher Motors in April, Dheeraj Hinduja said that the company has options to choose from within the company or from outside. “We have enough talented personnel within the company to ensure the sustained growth in the coming years.”
