Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Power reported a net profit of Rs 320 crore for the quarter ended March 31, primarily due to higher electricity sale. Despite an approximately three-fold rise in the finance cost, the company”s quarterly profit increased by 16% compared to the corresponding period in FY 15. The company full-year net profit jumped 32% to Rs 1,362 crore.
For the January-March period, the power developer’s total income grew to Rs 2,604 crore, a growth of 58% compared to the corresponding period a year ago. During the same period, its earning before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 71% to Rs 1,241 crore.
For the financial year ended March 31, the firm posted a 53% jump in total income at Rs 11,038 crore while EBITDA rose by 87% to Rs 4,830 crore.
In a press statement, RPower said the 3,960 MW Sasan ultra mega power plant (UMPP) in Madhya Pradesh generated 31,261 million units (MU) operating at availability of 90% in FY 16. The captive coal mines of Sasan UMPP produced 17.02 million tonnes of coal.
Among the operational highlights for the full year ended March 31, the company said its 1,200 MW Rosa power plant in Uttar Pradesh generated 7,060 MU operating at availability of 93%.
“The 600 MW Butibori Power Plant in Maharashtra generated 4,022 MU operating at availability of 97%,” the company said in a statement.
