Stating that urbanisation has created productivity in cities which was absent for decades, Anand Mahindra, chairman and managing director, Mahindra Group on Thursday said we need to reimagine urbanisation of India. “I disagree with the notion that productivity can’t happen in smaller, urban agglomerations. India cannot solve problems of rural to urban migration the way China did,” he said speaking at Mahindra World City Confluence 2017.
He shared his views in the panel discussion on the topic urbanisation. Amitabh Kant, NITI Aayog, CEO, who was also a member of the panel said, India should create cities which are compact and based on recycling models. “Urbanisation is not possible without the art of land monetisation. India must learn to create value for infrastructure we build,” he said. “We must do urbanisation in planned manner, one good thing is, India has begun the process now, he added.
Meanwhile, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant on Saturday said that three-fold strategy to make cashless economy accessible to entire population has already been formulated. “Three fold strategy has been planned to reach out to the entire population for remonetisation,” Kant said in a conversation with Times Now.

He also hailed developing of Bhim App as a great enabler. “Bhim App is one of the most easiest interface. For people with smartphones, Bhim App is a great enabler,” Kant added.
