Over the medium to long term, growth in the auto component industry will be higher than the underlying automotive industry growth, given the increasing localisation by OEMs, higher component content per vehicle and rising exports from India, said ICRA in its latest update note on auto component industry. Troubled auto-component maker Amtek Auto on Monday reported a net loss of Rs.528.7 crore for the quarter ending March, compared to a net profit of Rs.129.8 crore in the same period last year.

The steep decline in performance came in mainly due to an exceptional loss of Rs.439 crore, along with a sharp fall of 32% in its top-line, taking its total income to Rs.651 crore as against Rs.955 crore in the period last year.

In the January-March period of 2015, the company had posted an exceptional gain of Rs.180 crore.
