India’s biggest telecom company Bharti Airtel announced the launch of its new international roaming packs, making incoming calls free of charge. the new packs will allow customers to carry their Indian SIM cards abroad to stay connected 24×7, without the worries of high calls and data charges. The new roaming packs are to be made available to both prepaid and postpaid customers.
The international roaming packs will offer free calls and texts to India, along with various data benefits across all popular destinations, the company stated. The 1-day roaming pack has been designed for short international trips by the users and will cost around $10, which roughly translated to Rs 649 in Indian currency. The monthly (30 days) pack is priced a little high and will be made available at $75; approximately Rs 4,999.
The price and offers on these international packs may differ according to the countries the users are travelling to. The $10 pack to USA and Canada offers free incoming calls and texts, and 100 minutes of voice calls to India . It also offers 300MB of internet usage. The $75 pack, on the other hand in the same countries offer 3GB of data, unlimited free incoming calls, 400 minutes of calls to India, along with unlimited texts.
The company is also planning to launch a 10-day pack by mid-October. It is estimated to cost the user about $45. Among other benefits, local-in-country calls have been reduced to Rs3/minute. Airtel also informed that on the exhaustion of the data pack benefits, international roaming data would be charged at Rs 3/MB, which is a massive reduction from the previous charges of RS 650/MB.
