The National Investigation Agency on Sunday has decided to ask financial firms to decipher Zakir Naik’s papers. The decision came weeks after NIA filed an FIR against the preacher, it also raided a few Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) offices in Mumbai. According to India Today, DVDs, property and investment related documents along with domestic and foreign financial transactions of IRF were also recovered by the NGO. It had also approved a proposal to ban the IRF, allegedly for carrying out terror activities. The home ministry, in a notice had also said that the members of IRF and especially Zakir Naik was attempting to promote disharmony and hatred between different religious communities. Zakir Naik’s lawyer Mobin Solkar dismissed the allegation and said that the FIR against the preacher was illegal and that another FIR dating back to 2012 had already been filed against him.
