Woman’s hair gets stuck in go-kart wheel; horror Valentine’s Day celebrations end tragically

A 28-year-old Haryana woman died in a horror accident on Wednesday after her hair got tangled in the wheel of a go-kart at Pinjore Gardens.

A 28-year-old Haryana woman died in a horror accident on Wednesday after her hair got tangled in the wheel of a go-kart at Pinjore Gardens. Identified as Puneet Kaur, the woman and her husband Amardeep Singh, 30, were on Valentine’s Day outing. The woman, who hails from Rampura Phul, Bhatinda, was riding a go-kart with her husband and had tied her hair into a bun and was wearing a helmet. But the bun came off suddenly and her hair got stuck in one of the rear wheels. Both husband and wife were in the same go-kart when the incident took place.

Singh who is agriculturist told police that he and his wife were enjoying the ride when suddenly his wife’s hair got loose. By the time the kart stopped Kaur’s scalp was peeled off.

Kaur was rushed to Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, but doctors declared Kaur dead on arrival. Apart from Singh and his one-year-old child, Amardeep’s parents were also present at the time of the accident.

Panchkula police got the information about Kaur’s death after the doctors informed them. Meanwhile, relatives of the family have accused the police of obtaining Singh’s signature on the statement that they had dictated to him.

A relative of Singh by the name Parminder Singh Goldy said that Amardeep was nervous when he took his wife to the hospital. Police arrived at the hospital and took his signature. Accusing the police of not filing a report against the go-kart management, he threatened to sit on a dharna if an FIR was not lodged.

Sukhbir Singh, Pinjore SHO said that they have told the go-kart management to stop operations. “Till now, we have not received any complaint from the family members of the woman. Once someone files a complaint, we will file an FIR.”

The manager of the go-kart station Sushil Kumar said that they followed all security related rules. Claiming that they had provided the woman with a a helmet, Kumar called it an unfortunate accident.
