Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today faced an embarrassment after spreading a 'fake' news about the wedding of BJP MP Mahesh Sharma's daughter on Twitter.

Demonetisation politics is getting ugly. AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today faced an embarrassment after spreading a ‘fake’ news about the wedding of BJP MP Mahesh Sharma’s daughter on Twitter. In a tweet, Kejriwal had asked how Sharma is managing the wedding of his daughter. “BJP MP Mahesh Sharma’s daughter is getting married. Is he making entire payments in cheques? Is he managing the wedding with just Rs 2.5 lakh? How did he exchanged his (banned) notes,” Kejriwal tweeted.

However, it turned out that Kejriwal didn’t get his fact right before launching an attack on the BJP MP. Sharma himself clarified on Twitter that his son is getting married, not his daughter. Sharma also said that all payments for the wedding are done with cheques.

Kejriwal hasn’t apologised for unnecessarily dragging Sharma’s daughter in the controversy. Ever since the demonetisation announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8, Kejriwal has not lost a single opportunity to attack the BJP, even if it requires sharing some fake news through his verified Twitter handle.

A few days ago, Kejriwal had shared another fake news of a youth who allegedly committed suicide due to demonetisation. It turned out the youth had committed suicide after a failed bank robbery bid.

On Monday, Kejriwal’s jibe against Sharma didn’t go well with the Twitterati. They were quick to respond — some mocked him, some even left advice for the Delhi CM.

It is highly unlikely that frequent accusations against BJP and PM Modi by Kejriwal would stop soon. The Delhi CM had recently raked up a controversy by claiming PM Modi had received bribes from some industrialists when he was Gujarat Chief Minister. He had also shown some documents to the media to support his claim. A case in this regard was filed by Kejriwal’s former colleague and senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan in the Supreme Court. The apex court, however, rejected the so-called evidence against PM Modi.
