Iqbal, Anees and Dawood had fled the country, while mother Amina Bi stayed in Mumbai.
Iqbal Kaskar, younger brother of notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, was on Monday arrested by the Anti-Extortion Cell of Thane Police. The arrest came after a builder complained against him of repeated extortion demands, Indianexpress.com reported. While people are well aware that Dawood is a notorious criminal and is one of the most wanted by Indian security agencies, what they must not be aware that his brother, Iqbal, is also a history-sheeter. Iqbal Kaskar is a resident of Mumbai. The man, linked to D-company, was born to Ibrahim Kaskar and Amina Bi. Iqbal’s father worked in the Mumbai Police as a head constable and his mother was a housewife. Iqbal was born and brought up in Mumbai’s Dongri area. The notorious criminal is one of 11 siblings – six brothers and five sisters. Iqbal was arrested by encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma from his late sister Haseena Parkar’s apartment in Nagpada which he was using as his quarters.
An Indian Express report says that Iqbal is a resident of Bhendi Bazar and he had recently shifted from the Damarwala building at 33, Pakmodia Street to Parkar’s apartment. It’s worth mentioning here that Damarwala was the last known address of Dawood before he fled from Mumbai to Dubai. The entire family of Dawood lived at Damarwala before he fled the country in 1986. Iqbal, Anees and Dawood had fled the country, while mother Amina Bi stayed in Mumbai. Dawood is the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai Blasts Case. Iqbal was deported from Dubai to India in 2003. Iqbal was facing a trial in two cases including murder.
However, he was acquitted in both cases in 2007. Iqbal made the Damarwala residence of the Dawood family as his home. His last arrest came in 2015 for extorting a sum of Rs 3 lakh and thrashing the victim.
