Parliament Budget Session 2018: Union Minister Uma Bharti is known as a fire-brand leader and she showed some glimpses of it in Lok Sabha on Thursday. The incident took place during the Budget session 2018. As soon as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley started delivering his speech, TDP and YSR Congress MPs came and tried to disrupt his speech. The lawmakers were asking Jaitley to first address their issues regarding the Union Budget. As a number of MPs surrounded Jaitley, Bharti came and stood right next to the Finance Minister. A stern expression was visible on her face and she stood her ground till the MPs backed down.
TDP has been protesting against budget allocation for Andhra Pradesh. TDP MPs have said that even ‘Baahubali’ film had collected a larger amount than the Centre’s budgetary allocation to the state. TDP, which is a constituent of National Democratic Alliance (NDA), also demanded that special category status to Andhra Pradesh be accorded at the earliest.
Jaitley has assured that Modi government is looking into the issues regarding Andhra Pradesh. He also said that decision on a special package and revenue deficit may come up in the next few days.
Yesterday, noisy scenes were witnessed in Lok Sabha. Even Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had warned the TDP against showing their back to the Chair. It took TDP leader Thota Narasimham several minutes to convince his colleagues to allow Jaitley to speak.
