The aircraft of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was pushed on the runway of an airport by security personnel. The police personnel from Rourkela had to push his aircraft because of some technical difficulties. The incident happened at the airport, where Naveen Patnaik’s flight stood on the runway for some time after landing. To add to the anxiety of the airport authorities was that Vice President Hamid Ansari’s flight was about to land.
Both had visited the Odisha city to attend the opening ceremony of Grameen Hockey Championship of the state being held to mark the centenary celebrations Biju Janata Dal and former Chief Minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik, a report by ‘India Today’ has said. The plane, which had developed a technical snag, was almost pushed on the runway by security personnel till it was out of the runway. It perhaps a bizarre way of shifting an aircraft of a Chief Minister from the run way.
The city is an industrial belt, but, still, has a strong Maoist presence in the region . It is because of this region that security cordon and requirements are high in South Odisha as compared to other parts of the state.
Even as the BJD has supported the demonetisation drive of the Centre, Odisha was in controversy recently over a hospital fire, Maoist disturbance as well as deaths due to the ripple effect of note ban. The pushing of an aircraft is likely to be remembered for years as if this is what can happen to the CM of a state, one can imagine the plight of the state as well.
