This comes barely some weeks after Ram Rahim was jailed for 20 years for raping two sadhvis. In a major development, Rajasthan’s self-styled godman ‘Falahari Baba’ (Kaushlendra Prapannacharya Falahari Maharaj) has been arrested by Alwar Police on Saturday. The famed baba is accused of raping a 21-year-old woman from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh at his ashram. Falahari baba who had checked himself into a private hospital in Alwar earlier this week over high blood pressure complain was shifted to government hospital today, as per NDTV report. At the hospital, police got a medical examination of the godman and found his sugar and blood pressure to be normal, the report added.
Paras Jain, Additional Superintendent of Police, Alwar told NDTV that in the medical results conducted on Falahari Baba, his sugar and blood pressure and ECG reports were found to be normal. The 70-year-old godman is given the name ‘Falahari’ because of his fruits-only diet, reported NDTV. The woman parents have been reported to be the followers of Falahari Baba for many years. The parents alleged their daughter was assaulted at his luxurious ashram in Alwar, Rajasthan on August 7.
As per Indian Express report, according to the police, the accused had been visiting the woman’s residence for quite a long time. According to the preliminary investigation, the woman had got an internship after completing her law studies. She visited the Baba Falahari’s ashram on August 7 to donate some money following which he allegedly sexually exploited her. Baba Falahari apparently has a sprawling ashram and several domestic and international devotees revere him, police said.
