A massive landslide today hit the Chandigarh-Shimla national highway and nearly six to seven vehicles are reportedly buried under derbies, reported ANI. According to a report by The Hindustan Times, police have rescued three people. The incident took place this afternoon near Dhalli Tunnel. The area received heavy rainfall yesterday following which the landslide has occurred. The vehicles were parked on the site which was hit by the landslide. In a 20 second video, released by ANI, the entire incident was captured. In this video which was recorded on mobile camera, one can see the landslide as it happened. The scream of person who recorded the video can also be heard.
People were alerted when some boulders and rocks rolled down approximately fifteen minutes before the landslide, as per Hindustan Times. The roads are reportedly closed and the movement of traffic in the National Highway 22 is also affected. However, no casualties were reported till now. Rajinder Singh, DSP, said, “We have rescued three people. 2-3 empty cars still under debris from landslide.” Police said people who were stuck in houses below were rescued.

The police have diverted the traffic via Sanjauli and the restoration and rescue operations are on. According to HT report, Vipul Sharma, owner of a vehicle, said his car was parked near a temple on the highway. “I got a call from my friend about the landslide. There were more vehicles parked on the other side of road,” he was quoted as saying by HT.
