Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, who is known to rush to the aid of Indian-origin people who run into trouble abroad, did the same on February 6 when she tweeted in response to a video featuring a Sikh man who was in a desperate need of help and he is seen crying while explaining his predicament. Sushma Swaraj tweeted saying that she has heard him and she assured to extend help.

The video which surfaced in the social media features a Sikh man who pleads for help from the Government – he works for a company in Saudi Arabia. According to the video the man has not been paid by the company for a long time. The man made quite a touching plea seeking help from the government and said neither he nor his son’s dues have been paid by them and the total sum amounts to Riyal 35000 and 17000 respectively. He has been working in the company since 9 years and at this juncture the company is refusing to pay his salary or pays it at an interval of 2-3 months.

In the video the man says that his leg is injured and the meagre amount given by the company is spent on food and his medical expenses. He claims that if circumstances remain the same, his leg will have to be amputed as a result. He asked everybody to share the video and made a desperate call for help to the Government. He also talks about an instance were he was misled to sign a receipt of Riyal 55000, but apprehending the situation he refused to sign it.

This is not the first time that External Affairs Minister has come to the rescue of Indians stranded abroad. She has been transformed herself into an angel of rescue to whoever pleads to her for help.
