Ahead of the campaign, Priyanka wrote an open letter to the people of Uttar Pradesh, saying she would try to reach the people’s doorsteps with help of “Gangaji” and impose “sachcha samvad”

“Ganga Sacchayi aur Sammanata ki prateek hai. Ganga humari Ganga-Jamuni sanskriti ha chinh hai. Weh kisi se bhed bhav nahi karti. Gangaji Uttar Pradesh ka sahara hai. Main Gangaji ka sahara lekar hi apke beech pahunchungi, (River Ganga is the symbol of truth, and Ganga Jamuni culture. The river does not distinguish. And is the lifeline of Uttar Pradesh. With support of Ganga, I will reach you),” Priyanka Gandhi wrote.

In her letter. Priyanka Gandhi also wrote that Congress president Rahul Gandhi has given her a responsibility for the party in Eastern Uttar Pradesh and she shared a great bond with the state. “Uttar Pradesh se mera nata bahut purana hai,” she wrote, pointing out that she has been made the “sipahi” of Congress in order to “change politics of Uttar Pradesh”.

Observing that a “stagnancy” had set in the state, she alleged that youngsters, women, farmers and labourers are facing tough times in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress general secretary further observed that while people want to share their problems, the voice of youth, women, farmers and labourers has been lost in political mathematics .
