Amidst reports of rampant hate crimes, including killings of India-origin people in the United States (US), a shocking video published by an anti-immigration website featuring Indian families relaxing in a park in Ohio has become a cause of concern in the US. The video has been posted by a website ‘SaveAmericanITJobs.com’ with title ‘Welcome to Columbus Ohio suburbs – Let’s take a walk to Indian park’ with description saying “rich suburban park of Ohio has been occupied by rich Indians having visas” and that “displacement of Americans has occured”. In the video, a man has been walking around a park and capturing video footage of Indian-origin women and children resting and playing there. He is also narrating what he has been looking at through the lens of his camera.
According to a Buzzfeed report, the website’s creator is 66-year-old Steve Pushor, a computer programmer from Virginia. In the entire video, the narrator, who is probably Pushor, is saying “the number of people from foreign countries blows my mind out here. You see this whole area is all Indian, amazing. It’s an amazing number of jobs have been taken away from Americans. The Indian crowd has ravished the Midwest. It is a takeover.” He describes the park with Indians as a “mini Mumbai”. During the entire video, the narrator has used words like “insane”, “hell” and “mad” looking at footage of Indians in the post. The video was accompanied with a document called ‘”Ohio – A Journey To Indian Park”, which labels India as a “hell hole”. The link to the document now directs to 403-error page, reported Hindustan Times.
As of now, the video has been watched by over 49,000 people with several comments of people urging Pushor to “stop being a hater”. Many Indian people also express their anger telling Pushor that “Immigrants play a vital role in the United states and help in economy too” and asking him to “try to become half as qualified as the immigrant that supposedly took the job away”.
