BMC elections 2017: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday released a video for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls. The video looks like a mockery of its disgruntled ally, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena. The video takes pot shots at Shiv Sena indirectly by showing a tiger and its cub, representing Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray as “Khau Sena”, which roughly translates to the ‘Corrupt Sena’. It must be noted that the Tiger is Shiv Sena’s party symbol. The video shows the tiger filling potholes on a road by digging up more holes on it as the cub happily watches by. At the end of the video, a message is revealed which says that the Tiger had taken away all the funds while digging potholes in the name of roads.

Both BJP and Shiv Sena are allies but have been at loggerheads for quite some time. Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray has in the last few months launched several attacks on the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, while the BJP leaders have kept suspiciously quiet on the matter. Shiv Sena had even roped in Hardik Patel to be the face of their party in the Gujarat elections. Earlier today, the Shiv Sena had slammed BJP leader and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for the sad state of law and order in Nagpur. Earlier, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde had alleged that the BJP and NCP had become allies and the former was using the latter to defame Shiv Sena before the civic elections in Thane.

Earlier following the announcement of contesting the BMC elections without any alliance, Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray had said that his party should be given all the credit for the good work in Mumbai. The Shiv Sena chief even showed a copy of an Economic Survey and quoted it saying that the municipal corporation’s work was transparent. The BJP, however, had maintained a ‘dignified’ silence on the matter and had refused to comment on the rumours of a split. However, with the release of this video, it only seems like a matter of time that the allies become former allies, contesting each other.
