In a video that is going viral, a BJP MP from Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa is seen cleaning a toilet with his bare hands. The video dated 15 February, is now touted as the BJP MP’s effort to implement cleanliness drive in earnest and take Swacch Bharat Mission to another level.

In the video clip, Janardan Mishra is seen putting his hand into the toilet in order to clean it. He, then, scoops out the material in the hole with his bare hands. The toilet was reportedly unused due to the accumulation of soil. During his visit to the school in Rewa, Mishra found out that students were not able to use the school’s toilet as it was clogged. Mishra then immediately rolled up his sleeves and started clearing the blocked toilet with his bare hands. In the video posted on the MP’s Twitter handle, a man can also be heard in the background asking the minister to stop but he refuses. He removes the chunks of soil and then uses a stick to see if the toilet is free of all debris. He then pours water to check if the blockage has cleared. The video tweeted out by news agency ANI has been shared over 1,800 times and has been ‘liked’ by over 3,000 users.

When it comes to cleanliness, Janardhan Mishra has surely set a benchmark among other political leaders with his Swachh Bharat drive. Mishra is huge supporter and promoter of PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission. He was earlier spotted cleaning the streets of Rewa. In another video posted on Twitter, Mishra can be seen inspecting nails of students. The Rewa MP shook hands with the students and then started looking at their nails. He also clipped the nails of a few students and advised them to keep their nails clean. That’s not all, another video shows the MP giving a bath to a child. Mishra even scrubs the feet of a student after realising that students in a government school had not taken a bath. He also asks the parents to make sure that the children take bath daily.
