Lok Sabha Election 2024 Mood of the Nation opinion poll (UP): The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance is expected to sweep Uttar Pradesh once again with the latest opinion polls suggesting a one-sided contest on the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

According to India Today’s ‘Mood of the Nation’ opinion poll survey, the NDA is projected to win 72 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The ruling BJP, which is contesting the elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the state, is expected to retain its vote sdhare of 50 per cent and win 62 seats on its own.

The NDA, which comprises parties like the Apna Dal (Soneylal), Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and the Nishad Party, is expected to cumulatively shore up 52 per cent of the total votes, the opinion poll showed.

The INDIA bloc, which comprises the Samajwadi Party, Congress and the Rashtriya Lok Dal, is expected to shore up 8 seats cumulatively with 7 seats likely to go to Samajwadi Party and the Congress settling for a win in only 1 seat. In the 2019 elections, the SP won 7 seats, and the Congress 1. In terms of the vote share, the INDIA bloc is expected to bag 36 per cent votes with 6 per cent likely to go the Congress’ way.

The survey results for Uttar Pradesh released this morning come less than a month after the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22. The consecration ceremony, performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has become a rallying point for the BJP’s camapign in the state. The BJP has set a target of NDA winning all 80 seats in the state.

Meanwhile, things were looking up for the INDIA bloc in Punjab where the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are expected to win 5 seats each. The BJP, on the other hand, is expected to retain 2 seats while the Shirmani Akali Dal may bag 1 seat. Of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the Congress bagged 8 in the 2019 geenral elections while the AAP settled at 1 seat.

In Utttarakhand, where the ruling BJP government passed the Uniform Civil Code Bill on Wednesday, the Congress party faces a whitewash with the opinion poll predicting zero seats for the party. The BJP, on the other hand, is expected to win all 5 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
