Stepping up its offensive against the neighbouring country, India’s Foreign Secretary (FS) S Jaishankar today called in Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit. S Jaishankar presented proof of the cross-border origins of the terrorists involved in the Uri attack. According to MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup, the preliminary investigation has revealed the identity of one of the slain terrorists in the Uri attack. One of the terrorists was Hafiz Ahmed, the son of Feroz and a resident of Dharbang in Muzaffarabad. This information and other details was shared by the FS with Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit.

According to Swarup, Jaishankar termed the continuing attacks from Pakistan against India as unacceptable. He also gave details of the handlers; Mohd. Kabir Awan and Basharat. Jaishankar also informed Basit that the two guides who helped in the infiltration have been apprehended by local villagers and are now in custody. The guides were; Faizal Hussain Awan, aged 20 years, son of Gul Akbar and resident of Potha Jahangir in Muzzaffarabad and Yasin Khurshid, aged 19 years, son of Mohammed Khurshid and resident of Khiliana Kalan in Muzzaffarabad.

Last week Jaishankar had summoned Basit and told him that India has proof of the Pakistani origins of terrorists who were responsible for the Uri attack. Pakistan on its part has denied India’s claims. However, today’s move by India has exposed Pakistan’s lies and comes soon after a very strong speech by MEA Sushma Swaraj at the UNGA yesterday. Not mincing words, Swaraj blamed Pakistan for the Pathankot and Uri attacks. Swaraj hit out that while the Indian government made all efforts to establish friendship with Pakistan, the neighbouring country ‘gave’ only Pathankot and Uri terror attacks in return. She also firmly told Pakistan to stop dreaming about Kashmir. “Let me state unequivocally that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and will always remain so,” she said. Swaraj called for all countries to isolate nations that nurture terrorism and terrorists.
