Upset with Narendra Modi’s ‘raincoat’ remark on Manmohan Singh, Congress to boycott PM in Parliament

Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Anand Sharma has today criticised the NDA Government’s demonetisation step. Speaking to the media persons, he said that none of four objectives of the drive have been achieved by the Centre. He also added that the Congress will boycott PM Narendra Modi over his recent “Raincoat” remark on his predecessor Manmohan Singh.

The comments by the country’s main Opposition party has come day after PM Narendra Modi’s dig at former prime minister Manmohan Singh that said that the art of using a raincoat while taking a bath should be learn from the later.

Speaking minutes after Union Finance Arun Jaitley’s statement in the Lok Sabha defending the government’s demonetisation move, he said that the economy of the country has still not recovered in the country and tough times are likely to come. Anand Sharma, while taking a dig at the finance minister’ statement that there was no shortage of cash on any given day, he added that the world knows the actual truth as even today, ATMs are still running dry in several parts of the country.

The former Union minister while hitting out at Narendra Modi’s remark on Manmohan Singh also called the prime minister “arrogant” and said that he had lowered the dignity of the office even on earlier occasions also.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had used a language which is not accepted in political debates and has also dragged political debates to unacceptable depths, Anand Sharma said. He further said that the prime minister relishes using foul languages insulting the Opposition during his speeches.
