A struggling Congress may get a much needed breath of fresh air as Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may hit the campaign trail soon.

According to reports, There is “mounting pressure” from party workers that the Gandhi scion canvass the length and breadth of the state and address hundreds of rallies across the state. Gandhi family is mulling over the move.

This is not the first time that Priyanka Gandhi is visibly active in Congress affairs. She used to attend Congress strategy meetings related to Uttar Pradesh earlier too. She would sometimes be present in meetings at Rahul Gandhi’s residence and provide her inputs.

But this time, there is a marked shift. She is learnt to have been holding regular meetings with newly appointed AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, often at his South Avenue residence, to decide on party strategy and is said to be keen on tie-ups with smaller parties.

Rahul has not attended these meetings over the last fortnight as he was abroad.

Priyanka’s regular involvemenbt and attention has prompted party leaders to believe that Priyanka would play a key role in Assembly polls in the poltically signifact state next year and pull the party out of the current morass.
