Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Elections, the incumbent state government roped in Bollywood actress Vidya Balan to be the face of Samajwadi Pension Scheme, which promises a monthly pension of Rs 500 to poor women. A short film released y the state government shows Vidya explaining about the Pension scheme.
Talking about the scheme, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that he has spoken about the beneficiaries of the Samajwadi Pension scheme at many occasions, but people are still unaware about it. If a popular face like Vidya Balan’s were to be used for this purpose, disseminating information about this pension scheme will become easier. In such a case, people will became aware about the government who is running this scheme as well, said Akhilesh.
Earlier, the pension amount was transferred after several months, however, this time it will be transferred every month. Reacting to this, Vidya Balan said that she was happy to be the face of the scheme and will try to bring a change in the lives of women.
