UP police vacancy 2018: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the state government would soon come up with 1,62,000 vacancies in the police department. "We are coming up with 1,62,000 vacancies in the police department. We will provide employment to Uttar Pradesh youth in it on their merit without being biased. Anyone who tries to indulge in corruption in the process will be sent to jail," the Uttar Pradesh CM was quoted as saying in Gorakhpur today. In August last year, Yogi had said that as many as 70 lakh youths of the state would get jobs during his 5-year tenure. "The manner in which people have chosen Uttar Pradesh for investment, their excitement and inclination is being observed. we believe that of the 1 crore unemployed, we will be in a position to provide jobs to 70 lakh in the coming five years. they will be extended opportunities through our programmes," the chief minister had said at a 'Rozgar Summit" in Lucknow. In September 2017, Yogi had released a 58-page report card on the completion of six months in office. While releasing the document in the presence of media, Yogi had said the state would soon be flooded with jobs. Yogi Adityanath's latest statement comes at a time when his state is in news for violence in Kasganj. UP Governor Ram Naik today termed the communal clash as a "blot" on the state and also asked the government to start measures to ensure such incidents do not occur. Kasganj witnessed clashes between two communities last week. According to PTI, at least three shops, two buses and a car were torched after a youth was killed in clashes following stone-pelting by a mob on a motorcycle rally was taken out to celebrate Republic Day. "Whatever happened in Kasganj was not good. The incident there is a 'kalank' (blot) for UP. The government is probing the incident. It should initiate effective measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated," Naik told reporters today. The Kasganj district administration has said that the situation has come to normal even as many as 118 people have been arrested. UP police have also deployed drone cameras for surveillance.
