Akhilesh Yadav may have been the UP Chief Minister for almost five years now but it seems he is yet to become a household name, at least for the kids. On a visit to a primary school in Raebareli, in front of a packed class full of freshly scrubbed and eager young faces, the CM faced a humbling moment when a student identified him as Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

While addressing a public gathering on Friday, Akhilesh shared the incident. He said that on his visit to a Raebareli’s school when he asked a student to identify him, the tiny tot said, “aap Rahul Gandhi hain”. Though the CM shared this in a light mood, the situation describes the success of Rahul Gandhi’s Kisan Yatra that made him a familiar name in the state which is gearing up to face its assembly polls in the upcoming year. It is to be mentioned here that the Deoria to Delhi Kisan Yatra started on September 6 and crossed poll-bound UP before culminating.

This shows that not only Akhilesh has failed to rein in the difference within the party ranks but also his efforts are proving futile to gain popularity among the future generation of the state.

Meanwhile, the CM also counted the achievement of his government. Stating success of his ambitious ambulance service, Akhilesh said that who would have thought 4-5 years back in that state that an Ambulance will arrive on the doorstep on just a phone call. He further said that the government has “done a lot” to improve the education level of the government’s school in UP and it is dedicated to continuing it.
