Turkey’s consul general to India, Erdal Sabri Ergen , on Wednesday said that the coup attmept in his country on July 15th had connections in India. He also said that the perpetrators were found to be from Mumbai. According to reports, Ergen has also written to the home ministry of centre and state governments, asking them to take notice of organisations associated with Fethulla Gulen and to take necessary actions. Erdal called the Gulen-led movement, FETO, Fethulla Terror Organisation. He alleged that FETO along with “a section of the army” was behind the failed coup.
Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey had earlier accused US-based Turkish preacher, Fethulla Gulens’s organisation of planning the coup and had referred to it as the “parallel structure”.
The failed coup attempt had left 300 killed and more than 2,100 injured. In the mass arrest which followed the coup, at least 6,000 army personnel and judges were arrested. Turkish Parliament and the Presidential Palace were among the government buildings which were damaged in the coup.
Erdel Ergan claimed that Fethullah terror organisation has a worldwide network including India, which provide financial aid and support to the organisation. Turkey consul general also accused “various institutions” to have connections with Fethullah Gulen and said that these institutions must close down. “There are various institutions in Mumbai & India, connected to (Fethullah) Gullen network, every such institution must be closed”, said Erdal Ergen.
