The London Underground staff staged their second strike in a month over Mayor Boris Johnson’s plans to run trains all night on weekends, causing major disruption in UK’s capital city.

According to the Dawn, millions of Londoners were forced to walk, cycle or take crowded buses to work as the Underground staff walked out on Wednesday evening to return only on Friday morning, causing a shutdown of the subway network and stalling transportation in the “city that never sleeps”.

An additional 250 buses, rental bikes and river boat services were inducted to ease the disruption.

Four trade unions have been locked in a tussle for over a month with the management against Johnson’s plans to run a 24-hour Tube service on Fridays and Saturdays from September 12 onwards.
