Trinamool Congress MP and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee hospitalized with serious injuries from road accident

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was today hospitalized following a car accident that left the TMC leader with serious injuries.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was today hospitalized following a car accident that left the TMC leader with serious injuries. Initial reports indicate that the accident occurred while Abhishek was on the way from Murshidabad to Kolkata.

TMC MLA Manash Bhuniya, who was in a car behind Abhishek’s, also sustained minor injuries during the incident. As Abhishek Banerjee’s car toppled on road, the Member of the parliament suffered serious head injuries and is treated by a Special team of doctors at the alle Vue Nusing Home. CM Mamata Banerjee along with the state Education Minister Partha Chatterjee visited the hospital to inquire about the condition of Abhishek.

Abhishek Banerjee is infamous in West Bengal for his controversial comments and statements. Last year he created uproar in the state after his statement threatning to take off the eyes and chop off the hands of anyone challenging the TMC administration. Banerjee had also sparked controversies after his claim that the Mamata Banerjee government is responsible for the murder of Maoist leader Kishenji in 2011.
