Stepping boldly into the issue, Swaraj Kaushal, former Punjab Governor and husband of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, made a series of tweets.
Leaders across all the political parties have welcomed Supreme Court verdict on Triple Talaq, holding it unconstitutional, saying it was a step forward towards strengthening women’s rights in the country. Celebrities, activists, and even sportspersons are hailing apex court’s decision. Stepping boldly into the issue, Swaraj Kaushal, former Punjab Governor and husband of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, made a series of tweets. One of Kaushal’s witty tweets is now going viral on Twitter. Swaraj wrote: “Talaaq to de rahe ho nazar-e-kehar ke saath, Jawani bhi meri lauta do mehar ke saath” – a phrase purportedly recited by Meena Kumari in front of her husband Kamaal Amrohi after being given Triple Taraq.
“What an expression of a soul crying for inflicting injustice in the name of religion!” Alok Kumar Chaudhury, a Twitter user replied. “Teen talaq is an islamic manly scapegoat to intimidate his wife if she tries to save her fundamental rights of sex at their mutual consents, (sic)” Sanjay Chaudhařy, another user replied. “And ultimately Kamal Amrohi realized his fault and finally laid to rest beside Meena Kumari’s grave !!!” Anand another user replied.

However, not everyone was happy. A user said, “Please check the fast before opening ur mouth like a garbage bin. Both were Shia Muslim and they don’t believe in triple talak. Nonsense”. Replying to this, Kaushal Tweeted a documentary in Meena Kumari’s life. “Raza Sahib – Here is a well-researched documentary on Meena Kumari. You should like this,” Kaushal wrote.
