The Bengaluru Police received a bomb threat on Sunday — warning about attacks against Kempegowda airport and multiple malls in the city. The message was sent via email to the Commissioner of Police and claimed to be a “warning” the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group. The incident comes amid heightened security across the country following the deadly Red Fort blast in early November.

“This is a warning from the Jaish-e-Mohammed White collar terror team, we targeted Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru, Orion mall, Lulu Mall, Forum South mall, Mantri Square Mall, Lulu Mall for bomb blast at 7pm onwards. Thanks to our Allah and our master Mohit for serving our nation better,” news agency ANI quoted the email as saying.

The message was reportedly sent with the name ‘Mohit Kumar’ to the official email address of the top police officer on November 30. An FIR was subsequently filed under Section 173 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

IndiGo flight makes emergency landing in Mumbai after bomb threat

The details emerged even as a Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai following a bomb threat. According to a PTI report quoting sources, flight 6E1234 had been coming from Kuwait when it was abruptly diverted. A bomb threat assessment committee had assembled at Hyderabad airport upon getting the message and declared the threat as “specific”.

“Full emergency was declared for IndiGo flight 6E1234, which was diverted here due to a bomb threat e-mail received at the Hyderabad airport, at 6.33 am Tuesday,” the source told PTI.

Red Fort blast triggers high alert

Indian security agencies remain on high alert following a deadly car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi last month. The National Investigation Agency has so far arrested seven people accused in the case — linking it to a “white-collar” terror module busted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police earlier this year.
