Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi who has embarked on a ‘mahayatra’ in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) to reaffirm the Congress Party’s mark in the state ahead of assembly polls in early 2017.

The mahayatra which started on September 6 will traverse through 233 assembly constituencies and has reached Jaunpur today. While addressing the supporters from his convoy bus Rahul said that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work to divide people and it is my work to unite them.

He further went ahead and said that this country can neither be administered with anger nor by inflicting fear upon the populace and that the only way to run the country is by spreading love and harmony. This is the difference between us (Congress) and them (BJP).

The MP from Amethi further added that the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi and himself will continue their fight against Narendra Modi and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

In his address he reaffirmed that it is ingrained in his blood that this country belongs to all and notto any one caste, religion, individual or an organisation.

The Congress party is heavily banking on this long road show called ‘mahayatra’ to gain leverage and assert the party’s position in the upcoming state assembly polls of UP.
