Dewan (spiritual head) of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah Syed Zainul Abedin on Monday asserted that “there is no better country for Muslims than India”. Abedin also said he along with other Sufi clerics will visit Kashmir and reach out to the youth there. He said this after meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the national capital, a media report said. Kashmir has been embroiled in a conflict and widespread protests since the death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. One can only hope that Abedin’s message reaches to the people of the Valley and peace prevails there.

Earlier, twenty-one Muslim clerics met Home Minister Singh and proposed to talk to their “brothers” in Kashmir. The group had sought clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and also expressed a desire to meet Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference Chief Omar Abdullah.
