Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami on the eve of the Mahashivaratri celebrations that are being organised at the Isha Foundation Coimbatore centre, this will be the first time when E Palaniswami will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi after taking charge as the Tamil Nadu CM. The Isha Foundation that was founded by the popular yoga guru Jaggi Vasudev also funded the 112-foot tall statue dedicated to ‘Adiyogi’ (a form of Lord Shiva who according to the Hindu tradition is considered the first of yogis) that was unveiled by PM Modi earlier today. February 24 also marks the birth anniversary of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
While addressing the audience after the unveiling of the statue, PM counted a number of positive points about Yoga and said, “Mahashivratri symbolises a union of divinity with a purpose of overcoming darkness and injustice. India has given the gift of Yoga to the world, by practising Yoga a spirit of oneness is created. The essence of yoga has not changed. Yoga is the catalytic agent for transformation. The place we have gathered today is going to be a source of inspiration for all. Rejecting an idea just because it is ancient, can be potentially harmful. It is essential to analyse and understand it and try to take it to the new generation in a manner in which they understand best.”
