While addressing the audience after the unveiling of the statue, PM counted a number of positive points about Yoga and said, “Mahashivratri symbolises a union of divinity with a purpose of overcoming darkness and injustice. India has given the gift of Yoga to the world, by practising Yoga a spirit of oneness is created. The essence of yoga has not changed. Yoga is the catalytic agent for transformation. The place we have gathered today is going to be a source of inspiration for all. Rejecting an idea just because it is ancient, can be potentially harmful. It is essential to analyse and understand it and try to take it to the new generation in a manner in which they understand best.”

Not everyone was happy and pleased by the statue, nearly 500 members of different outfits were arrested here today when they attempted to stage a demonstration against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to unveil a 112-foot Adiyogi face at the Isha Yoga centre. Police said that black balloons were released by the protesters as Modi was travelling to the venue near here by a helicopter. The police also stated that,”The protesters raised slogans against Modi for his alleged failure in protecting farmers’ interests and for not taking action against the Isha Yoga for alleged encroachment of tribal land for construction of the face.”
