A supporter of outgoing Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Thursday attempted to self immolate outside the residence of outgoing CM during a protest against Palanisamy after he was invited to form the government in Tamil Nadu. The injured supporter has been rushed to the hospital. After addressing a gathering outside his residence at Greenways Road, Panneerselvam also left for the hospital to meet the supporter who immolated himself. The supporters were gathered outside Panneerselvam’s residence and were shouting slogans supporting him. Some were seen calling him as the warrior of Jallikattu as well.

After the announcement of E Palanisamy being invited to form the government by Governor C Vidyasagar Rao, the O Panneerselvam suppoters enraged and took to protest. They also questioned the elevation of Sasikala’s nephew Dinakaran.

According to the reports, Tamil Nadu Governor has invited Sasikala’s loyalist, Eddapadi Palanisami to form the government and his swearing-in is likely to take place this evening at 4.30 pm. Palanisami has been given 15 days to prove majority. Meanwhile, the OPS camp has been reportedly in a huddle since morning and are probably figuring out a strategy and a plan of action – they may be too late to come up with any surprises.

In terms of numbers, Palanisamy seems to be a clear winner. Palanisamy will be Tamil Nadu’s third chief minister in two months.
