Surgical strikes at LoC: After Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defence held a joint press conference and DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh informed that India had conducted surgical strikes on Wednesday night across the LoC, the BJP government had called for an all-party meeting on Thursday, September 29. The DGMO briefed all the parties about the strike during the meeting. Union Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj in the meeting outlined the diplomatic strategy of the government. Pakistan, meanwhile, had denied such claims of surgical strikes by the Indian Army across LoC in Pak-occupied-Kashmir. Congratulating the efforts of the Indian Army, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that any steps that the current government and the Indian Army takes to curb terrorism will be supported by the party.

Azad informed the media that the government briefed all the parties about the surgical strike and they congratulated the Indian armed forces for a successful operation. President of the Indian National Congress party, Sonia Gandhi had earlier said, “It is a strong message that conveys India’s resolve to prevent further infiltration and attacks on our security forces and people. Congress stands with Govt in its actions to protect India’s security and deal with terror from across the border.” Member of Parliament from Congress, Sashi Tharoor said, “What does Pakistan mean by ‘unprovoked’? Killing 18 of our soldiers is not provocation?” Tharoor added, “I am very proud of the Indian Army, the real message has been sent to Pakistan. Well done.”

Meanwhile former Defense Minister of the Congress party AK Antony said, “I salute the bravery of Indian forces, this is a befitting reply to Pakistan. We support the Govt.” The leader of the Communist Party of India, Sitaram Yechury said, “We have seen our DGMO briefing, and seen the Pakistani reaction, besides that we have no official information.” Congress MLA from Haryana, Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, “INC wholeheartedly supports the surgical strike on terror pads in POK by Indian Army. Salute the valour of our armed forces.”
