The court has also ordered the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to evaluate the Bapu's heath and has asked them to submit a report on the same within 10 days.
The Supreme Court on Thursday denied interim bail to Asaram Bapu, who is currently serving in the Jodhpur central jail for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year old girl at his ashram in Jodhpur in 2013. The court has also ordered the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to evaluate the Bapu’s heath and has asked them to submit a report on the same within 10 days.
The jailed godman had sought for an interim bail citing health reasons. Earlier this week, the Rajasthan High Court had rejected his bail plea. While rejecting the bail, Justice Nirmal Jeet Kaur said, that the trial of the case had reached its fag end and it was not appropriate to grant the bail. This was the ninth regular bail application of Asaram to be rejected. Last month too a bail application was denied by the Rajasthan Court.
The teenage girl belonging to Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh was a student at Bapu’s ashram and it was following her complaint that the Jodhpur police arrested Asaram om August 31, 2013.
