Amidst the counting going on in the state of Gujarat to determine the results of the state assembly election results, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy hit out at the Congress and also provided his view about what lieas ahead for Indian polity that is, at the moment, split with BJP in lead and Congress trailing. The leader took to Twitter and shared a post saying, “I put on record that 95+_ was predicted throughout to me by Nalapat and my daughter Suhasini. Foreigners: 80+_. Ram Mandir is the difference.” In another post, Swamy took a jibe at the Congress Party and said, “2019 will be perhaps soft bogus Hindutva + failing economy versus genuine hindutva and anti corruption.” This statement by Swamy accusing Congress of using ‘soft bogus Hindutva’ comes after Rahul Gandhi’s visit to temples earlier in the year were being seen as a change in tactics by the Grand Old Party that has adopted a soft Hindutva strategy.

According to latest trends in the state of Gujarat, BJP is leading in the state with 96 seats whereas Congress is on 63. BJP’s Nitinbhai Patel who is presently trailing by over 2000 votes from Mahesana while talking about the results said, “Ultimately BJP is going to register victory, contrary to early trends BJP is leading almost everywhere now.” Earlier in the day, it was stated by news agency ANI that current Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani was leading by 7600 votes from Rajkot West, at the end of Counting in round 3.

Earlier in the day Swamy in an interview said, “It is still too early to say anything, and we still have to wait for the results, but we are winning the majority there is no doubt about that. BJP will win majority in both the states and that in itself is a big victory.” He further gave out his own predictions and said, “According to my prediction, 105 is the minimum and 120 is the maximum.”

Gujarat Congress chief Ashok Gehlot expressed his confidence over the victory of his party in the state. “The mood of the people of Gujarat will lead Congress to victory, can’t comment much on initial trends; let the final results come,” he said.
