Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar is all set to open 1,000 Sri Sri Tattva (SST) retail stores over the next two years across the country and thereby follow Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and his Patanjali Ayurved outfit that has taken the FMCG sector by storm. SST in alliance with Franchise India will launch 1,000-odd stores, wherein the Art of Living guru’s chain will exclusively sell SST brands. SST currently operates in 33 countries. However, it will now find its way into another 30 which will include countries like Brazil and Argentina. Arvind Varchaswi, MD of the FMCG firm was quoted by PTI as saying, “We will launch Sri Sri Tattva brand of products in 30 new countries with a focus on Latin America, including Brazil and Argentina. We are already present in countries in Middle East, Far East, and Russia, where we will further expand our range.” He also indicated that this year around 600 stores will be opened.

Giving a major competition to Ramdev’s FMCG firm Patanjali, the SST franchisees, as per the report, would carry a range of 300-plus brands across personal care, healthcare which will include prescription and OTC Ayurveda, food, homecare and incense and fragrance categories. The brand intends to launch about 20-25 products in the next one month in these various categories, reported PTI.

Varchaswi also said that the brand has also launched an apparel range with Indian ethnic wear, which will sell online and through the app. The company has set up two more factories in Bengaluru for its personal care range.

On the other hand, Baba Ramdev’s firm is foraying into quick service restaurants. As per the report, Ramdev had declared that by 2022, Patanjali will be a Rs 2-lakh-crore company straddling new verticals and opening new integrated food parks and manufacturing units.
