Shivpal Yadav confirmed that he will be forming a new political party, 'Samajwadi Secular Morcha' with Mulayam Singh Yadav as its chief
After the recent defeat at the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state assembly elections that was largely blamed on the dispute within the family that led to former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav snatching the reigns of the Samajwadi Party, Shivpal Yadav confirmed that he will be forming a new political party, ‘Samajwadi Secular Morcha’ with Mulayam Singh Yadav as its chief, reported news agency ANI. While speaking to the agency, Yadav said he has taken the decision to get Mulayam Singh Yadav’s honour back. “Neta ji ko unka sammaan vapas dilane, aur Samajawadion ko ek saath laane ke liye is morche ka jald hi ailaan hoga,” he was quoted as saying by the agency.
A few days ago, Shivpal blamed Akhilesh Yadav for party’s losses in UP Assembly and Lok Sabha polls and warned that he will form a new organisation if the reigns of the organisation were not handed over to Mulayam. “Akhilesh had promised to hand over the party to ‘netaji’ (Mulayam). He should now do so and we all will strengthen the SP. I had also given him three months’ time. Otherwise, I will constitute a new secular front,” Shivpal was quoted as saying by PTI at a press meet in Etawah.
Shivpal also alleged that the police had been harassing people in his assembly constituency of Jaswantnagar. “When corrupt persons and officials join hands with government, harassment of people begins and such a thing had happened in the previous government. It has also started in the present regime. I will meet the chief minister and apprise him of the situation,” he said.
He also attacked SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav who had accused him of not having read the party constitution by saying, “Those who are teaching me party’s constitution should read Gita. Everyone knows who made the party (SP) and built it.”
