Lalu Prasad Yadav led RJD is blowing hot and cold over the Mahagathbandhan with Bihar Chief Minister led JDU. While on one hand, Lalu is papering over differences, an aide of his is saying that all is not well between allies. Evidence of cracks have emerged in the alliance between Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) after Shivanand Tiwari, an aide of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad threatened to make disclosures that could damage the clean image of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Tiwari told news wire service ANI ”I know Nitish Kumar and I also know about his tolerance for corruption. I know all about the skeletons in his closet. He wouldn’t like it if those skeletons are revealed”. Tiwari made the statement when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the main opposition party in the state is asking for the resignation of Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Lalu’s son Tejashwi Yadav, who is named in a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR.
Shivanand Tiwari went on to say that he is requesting Nitish Kumar to speak about the issue and that the only way for the alliance to function effectively is if both the RJD and Nitish’s Janata Dal-United (JDU) work together. Tiwari said ”I humbly request Nitish Kumar to speak to us. How will our alliance function effectively if both the parties are not speaking to each other”.
Earlier in the day Lalu Prasad while addressing a press conference said, that there is no reason for his son Tejashwi Yadav to step down from the post of Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister. Lalu Prasad said, ”Why should Tejashwi resign, Nitish Kumar hasn’t asked him to resign”. Lalu also added that the rumours of him not speaking to his alliance partner Nitish Kumar are not true. The RJD supremo made the statement after chairing a meet with party MLAs.
