Sidhu, after the launch of Awaaz-e-Punjab emphasised that his front was not political and was established for "the betterment of Punjab."
Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu’s front Awaaz-e-Punjab on Monday decided to seek a pre-poll alliance with either Congress or Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab. The front has vowed to end the ‘Badal-Amarinder’ nexus in the state.
Sidhu, after the launch of Awaaz-e-Punjab emphasised that his front was not political and was established for “the betterment of Punjab.”
Asked about the sudden change of heart regarding the Congress, Independent MLA Simarjit Singh Bains said, “Sidhu was categorical in saying he would work against the Amarinder-Badal nexus. He did not say anything against the Congress. Possibilities are immense. Just wait and watch.”
Adding to younger brother’s statements, Balwinder Singh Bains said, “We will contest elections. I can only say that we will not just contest from two constituencies represented by us. It will be from many others also,” reports The Indian Express.
Previously, Sidhu on September 22 had said, that he was not turning his front into a political party and that he was open to alliances. According to him, he did not want to play spoilsport, leading to speculation that AAP had opened a channel of communication with the former cricketer.
