The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation at Barbugh in Imam Sahib area of Shopian this evening after getting information about the presence of militants there, news agency Press Trust of India reported quoting an official. The report adds that these terrorists opened fire on the search party, triggering a gun battle. No casualty on the part of security forces has been reported so far. Earlier, an incident was reported from Anantnag where one policeman was killed and two other policemen were reportedly injured. The incident took place after terrorists attacked a police party standing near a bus-stand. As per reports, the attack took place just 500 meters away from the venue of Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s meeting which is scheduled for tomorrow.
In another separate incident, a 22-year-old civilian was injured in a ceasefire violation by the Pakistani Army along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. As per PTI, the incident took place when Pakistani forces opened fire from across the border in Krishna Ghati and Mendhar sectors at around 10.30 am. Indian troops also responded by guarding the border, a police official was quoted saying by PTI.
