Dera violence: The SIT probing into the violence case against top Dera Sacha Sauda members Aditya Insan, Honeypreet Insan and Surendra Dhiman Insan, has made a shocking revelation.
Who were the people involved in fueling violence after Dera Sachha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted for raping two sadhvis on August 25? And, why did they do so? Answers to these questions were not known earlier as at least two theories were doing the rounds – First, people involved in violence were faithful Dera followers, who didn’t believe their Guru was a rapist and felt he was framed. Second theory was that the Dera authorities assembled a paid crowd to trigger disturbances in Haryana and other locations. It seems the truth is out now if a Times of India (ToI) report is to be believed.
The special investigation team (SIT), probing into the violence case against top Dera Sacha Sauda members Aditya Insan, Honeypreet Insan and Surendra Dhiman Insan, has made a shocking revelation. According to the ToI report, SIT says Dera had spent “at least Rs 5 crore” to trigger violence after Ram Rahim was convicted. The investigators have found that Chamkaur Singh, head of Dera’s branch in Panchkula, was the key person in procuring and spending the money he received from Dera management.
Chamkaur, along with his family, went missing after a sedition case was filed against him following a Punjab and Haryana High Court order, ToI reort said. As many as 41 people died in Panchkula and Sirsa and around 100 were injured in the violence that broke out after Gurmeet’s conviction by a special CBI court on August 25.
Meanwhile, PTI reported on Wednesday that preparation for sanitising Dera headquarter at Sirsa has been made. The sanitisation process will be overseen by the Court Commissioner. Haryana police personnel, paramilitary forces, duty magistrates, executive magistrates and revenue officials will also be part of the exercise.
Dera headquarter in Sirsa is spread over around 800 acres. It houses educational institutions, markets, hospital, stadium and houses.
On Wednesday, police also said they have arrested 8 Dera followers for attacking a fuel pump in Kotkapura area on August 25. They were: arinder Kumar, Kuldeep Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Marpreet Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Randeep Singh, Pawan Kumar and Parwinder Singh, PTI reported. Earlier, police had arrested five people – Sandeep Kumar, Kamaldeep Singh, Baljinder Singh, Gurtej Singh and Jasveer Singh- in connection with violence in Haryana and neighbouring states after Gurmeet’s conviction, police said.
