A student of Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Sonepat, Haryana, was allegedly shot inside the classroom by a fellow classmate on Saturday. The two students, who are in their late teens had an argument two days ago, which led to one of them shooting the other, the police said after launching a preliminary investigation into the incident.

The victim is undergoing treatment at PGIMS at Rohtak. As per PTI report, Rahul Dev Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sonepat, said, “CCTV footage purportedly shows two boys approaching the victim from behind, who was chatting with other students in the classroom. One of the two boys then took out a pistol from his bag and shot the victim in the back.”
He added, “As the victim fell from the bench he was sitting on, both the accused fled from the spot.” The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against the two boys who are absconding. Other students and authorities are also being questioned by the police. The video of this incident was posted by ANI on its Twitter handle on Saturday morning where one student can be seen shooting other. Meanwhile, earlier in February 2017, as per Hindustan Times report, a 11th grader at a prominent Ghaziabad school smuggled a gun into the campus and shot a classmate during lunch break over an altercation. The victim, a student of Dehradun Public School (DDPS) at Govindpuram, was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his waist. According to police, the incident was a consequence of a feud between the victim and the brother of the boy who shot him. The father of the victim said that the shooter and three of his friends first attacked his son with belts at 11:25 am before opening fire with a country-made pistol.
“Teachers and school administration officials arrived and saved my son. They caught hold of the student who opened fire and handed him over to police with the weapon,” said Vinod Bhati, the victim’s father, in his police complaint, the report added.
