Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) has withdrawn its decision to change the timing of Shri Saibaba's aaratis, after locals protested against the rescheduling announced earlier today.

Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) has withdrawn its decision to change the timing of Shri Saibaba’s aaratis, after locals protested against the rescheduling announced earlier today.

Local residents staged a hunger strike in front of the SSST office, following which the trust’s executive officer, Rajendra Jadhav, took back the decision.

Now, aaratis will be held as per the old timings-‘kakad’ aarati at 4.30 a.m. and ‘shejarati’ at 10.30 p.m., he said.

A three-member committee had earlier today decided that owing to the heavy rush of pilgrims during the ongoing Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela, the kakad aarati will be held at 3 AM, while the timing of the shejarati was changed to 11.30 PM.

“The changes were effected from today for at least two months, considering the heavy rush of pilgrims during the ongoing Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela, so that the main temple of Shri Saibaba will be open for 20 hours in a day,” Jadhav had said.

However, many local people had opposed the move.

“Changes made in the timing of Shri Saibaba’s aaratis are wrong as per the tradition. SSST could make some other arrangement for the devotees instead of the change,” Rajendra Kote, a councilor of the Shirdi Municipal Council had said.
