Shimla is back on the flight radar! Yes! Operations will begin at the Shimla Airport, ensuring that the tourist hub in Himachal Pradesh will be once again get connected by air on June 9.

Hospitality industry representatives are expecting good tourist arrivals with the restoration of the air link.

We take a look at five interesting facts about this interesting and exciting news about the Shimla Airport:

IIC Technologies Ltd would commence its passenger service (Air Himalays) between Shimla, Kullu, Chandigarh and Dharamsala from June 9

IIC will operate daily flights between Chandigarh and Kullu, Chandigarh and Shimla, Shimla and Gaggal, Gaggal and Shimla and Shimla and Chandigarh.

Urban Development minister Sudhir Sharma will launch the air-service by flagging off a flight from Jubbar Hatti airport near Shimla.

Air services from Shimla airport has been suspended for past 44 months.

Airport Authority of India has spent Rs 32.25 crore to maintain the airport.
